Every tool and vendor in BRM is assigned a single owner. This person is the primary point of contact for any inquiries about the status of that tool or vendor.
Owners are designated during the onboarding process and their assignments can be updated in BRM over time.
Notifications are integral to using BRM to its fullest potential. Owners hold lots of responsibilities so notifications ensure that they are proactive when managing their tools and processes. The following are primary considerations when setting notifications.
An owner's main duty is to maintain the tools and vendors they oversee in good order. This encompasses ensuring user licenses are correctly provisioned, maintaining tool compliance, keeping documentation current, and addressing renewals proactively. These responsibilities are reflected in the tool's status.
In the example below, the owner, Connor, sees that one of his tools has dropped to Warning
. He investigates and finds a comment from Compliance indicating that the SOC2 is outdated, and he promptly uploads the latest version.
